The first morning I woke up in our new house after we moved halfway across the country was the first time we ever saw our new home in the daylight. We rented sight unseen and by time we finally pulled in the driveway, it was pitch black outside. That morning, we woke up so excited to see where the heck we were! As we slipped out of our air mattress and made some coffee, we watched the sunrise, feeling so much excitement and awe as we saw for the first time that we had mountains all around us, the sunrise turning the mountains bright pink and orange.
Then we heard it, the unforgettable screech of a hawk followed by the sound of its powerful wings as it flew overhead.
I find it so interesting that we as humans are so intrigued by birds of prey. Owls, hawks, eagles etc catch out imagination and have become symbols, stories, legends and myths for hundreds of years. Symbolizing protection or spiritual guides, transformation and rebirth and many more.
Almost every day since then, we either hear or see that hawk flying overhead. For me it’s a reminder to stay curious and to pay attention.
